I'm back, and survived the plane flight!!
by ScoobySnax injust got back from corfu today, naturally looking like a bronzed adonis.. even the plane flight wasn't as bad as i thought, even though it was a bit bumpy on the ride home.
hired a car and saw some of the island, beautiful scenery, sandy beaches, secluded coves, olive groves and historical monuments.
the greeks are such fantastically warm and friendly.

40 Years Ago Today
by RAYZORBLADE inon september 8, 1963 my sister, carmen elizabeth was born.. she was, and would remain the only girl in our family.
she was so adorable, brown haired, brown eyed and had a great smile.
she was less than a year younger than i, and we were like the 'best of pals' as kids.. she'd allow me to put beans in her ears, or get her to put peas in her nose or carrots on top of her teeth, and make me laugh.. she was born in cape breton, nova scotia.

Fading?
by neverin ini have been lurking here for about 2 years now and have decided to 'come out' of lurkdom.
a brief history - although i have never attended meetings my dad and 2 brothers are elders - mom has never been 'in the truth', dad joined when they had been married about 10 yrs.
anyway cut to the chase - i was abused by my brothers friend - i was 10 her was 22 - and i only told my parents 2 years ago, aged 32. the whole mess is a very long story and perhaps i will take the time to tell all in the future.

Welcome to the board Neverin.
So glad you decided to come out of lurkdom! It does sound as though your Dad is losing interest. Maybe you could let him know you have noticed him skipping the meetings and ask him if everything is okay or is he having some problems (doubts) that he can't talk to the elder sons about and may not want to worry your Mom. He may open up to you for being concerned about his out of characture behavior. You could let him know if he has doubts he could safely discuss them with you and not fear any action against him. It may lighten his load to talk to you. If he does want out you can get help here to make it easier. Hang around and let us know how he's doing.

How Can I Get Info on a Dead JW ??
by SanFranciscoJim ini just received a fascinating email from someone looking for information on a jw who died in the late 1970s.
all i have is the person's name and city of residence at the time of death.
is there some place (preferably on the internet) i can go to see a copy of the death certificate?

SFJ,
I don't know if they would have the info on the internet for that far back by typing in Google, the town then obituaries but you could try that. Below is a link to get a death certificate on the net but you have to pay for it. You will also need all the important information to get it probably like date of birth, death etc.
Edited to add........Google search type in "Death Certificate how to get" and you will get all kinds of ways to get one.

Good Morning everyone,
If anyone remembers, Sunrises, and Sunsets are my time with God. I wish I had a scanner (that worked) to show you the most unique sunrise I have seen in my life. I have seen more beautiful, but none more unique.
It was bright pinky orange with the clearest blue back ground. Picture if you will a childs rendition of a sun (some adults too, me included), a circle with rays coming out of it. The center of the sun would be obstructed by the house across the street, the sun comes up behind the house. The center was a cluster of small puffy clouds , out of this cluster came long fingers of puffy clouds that went across the whole sky in a sunburst way, staying connected to the center cluster. There were 11 fingers from horizon to horizon. Or picture a clock, the center of the hands being the center cluster of clouds then from 9 o'clock to 3 o'clock a finger of clouds going out to each hour. It was amazing. I've seen waves of clouds but these were'nt waves. Well maybe they were waves, but they were attached at a center. Simply unique. As the sun came up it turned more to white a grey and the fingers bled more into the blue sky, not so distinct and vivid. What a picture to behold.

I can't do it anymore.
by Gadget inpeople who've been reading my posts will know i've been trying to get reinstated so i can get back together with my girlfriend/fiance.
the more time goes on, the less i feel able to do that.
all the things i hear from the platform, and the things that elders have said to me just reinforce the fact that i want nothing at all to do with this organisation anymore.

Gadget,
You have been honest with yourself. Now be honest with her. Sometimes a clean slate is the best answer. Freeing the way for true happiness on both sides. Best wishes in what ever you decide is best for you. To thyne own self be true.

Having It Both Ways?--A Defining Characteristic
by blondie ini was reading on another website and found this post.
the poster said i could post it here.
it shows why it is hard to reason with anyone in the organization.. when individuals leave the organization for conscience reasons, it is evidence that god is shepherding and protecting the flock by doing a sifting work.

Are you ever taken aback by what some here have said to you ?
by berylblue inas in ....you post something you feel is rather innocuous, or sincere, or perhaps revealing something rather private and honest and candid, and someone blows you away with a nasty comment?.
i am not speaking of heated debates.
if one participates in those, one expects to receive passionate replies which may sometimes hurt.

Yes. It made me cry. He put this little woman in her place, he sure did. For months I wanted to bring the subject up to see if there could be some help for something that is very painful to me and I don't know how to fix. I didn't have the nerve to start a thread about it on my own, so when someone else did, I opened up. (dumb) I won't be sharing anything anytime soon.
